Our Story
eCountability evolved to meet growing demand from leading international financial institutions, governments and businesses for assistance with ecological accountability. As experienced ecological consultants, we recognised the need for advice, reliable data and tools to help clients meet international standards in order to access finance for their projects; to help local environmental records centres to automate their processes for providing biodiversity data to UK planners and developers; to support governments to implement their policies on biodiversity offsetting and net gain and to help clients account for losses and gains of natural capital, ecosystem services and biodiversity when conducting their business. With support from Innovate UK we piloted tools for ecosystem service assessment in urban contexts and for quantifying biodiversity losses and gains within the UK/ Defra offset framework, based on the metric we developed.
Bill Butcher, Jo Treweek and Alec Walker combine skills in ecological research, biodiversity data management, software development, ecological appraisal and due diligence reviews. They also have many years of practical experience in a range of policy and development sectors in different countries, and work with partners, associates and local specialists to deliver fast, well-informed solutions for clients.
